Happy Birthday...
to my amazing fiance who made me breakfast this morning because I was sick, who would not have made my date-able cut had be been born five days later (I never wanted to date someone younger than me — always rubbing his youth in my face), and who ate his white chocolate raspberry cheesecake that I bought him before I could snap a pic but managed to save me one delicious bite.
fyi: whoever...

Carolina Crossroads at the Carolina Inn. Chapel...
When/Occasion: Belated Valentine’s Dinner 2012. Pre-Law/Med School Dinner Date Aug. 2008. Our Birthday Dinner Feb/Mar 2008.
Food: One thing that I LOVE about the Carolina Inn is all the extra special touches. At the beginning of every meal, you are given something similar to amuse-bouche, but in a shot glass. The first time I was skeptical—a shot of whipped asparagus. I skipped out on...

it feels absolutely delicious outside.
it is perfect “read a book outside” weather. but I hope this doesn’t mean it will be ridiculously hot when it’s supposed to be Spring.

you know you've reached adulthood...
When it’s snowing and instead of getting excited at the hope of not going anywhere (ahem-school) the next day, you realize you’ll have to get up earlier to scrap the snow off your car and hope you don’t slide off the road in an attempt to make it to Court on time.
lame.

Bear Rock Cafe. Not in Chapel Hill :(
So this week I’ve been a little under the weather. Yesterday was the worst of it — all I wanted was some soup but my emergency stash of chicken noodle and tomato soup had ran out (plus I was a little tired of it).
My fiance offered to go get me something to eat, but all I really wanted was some potato soup. And my favorite place to get potato soup is Bear Rock Cafe. But unfortunately,...

something to consider this holiday.
So you would probably expect a lovey dovey post from the future mrs. rdm on this Valentine’s Day. But I’m afraid you won’t find any of that here today. rdm and I have always celebrated our love for the holiday but never on February 14.
The first two years we were together, life got in the way. I had dance practice. I was working. He had a thesis to write. We always just pushed...

i LOVE grease!
and so does my two-year-old nephew! [and I’m talking about the movie, not bacon fat.] I got to hang out with my nephew last week and it was either watch The Wizard of Oz for the umpteenth time (which don’t get me wrong — I LOVE it too!) or try something new.
I went for Grease and he sat through half of it, with his little arm wrapped behind my back. He would get up and wiggle to...
MINT, Chapel Hill, North Carolina
When: Too many times
Occasion: Any … we go just to go
Overview: So the past two restaurants have been about some good ole southern cooking. The MINT, however, takes you to the complete opposite side of the globe: India. Shockingly, I LOVE Indian food. And it was that love that helped me survive the disaster that is English food. Without Indian restaurants in England, I would have either...

OLDE PINK HOUSE, Savannah, Georgia
When: Summer 2009
Occasion: One last summer escape with my love before returning to the real world (law school…blah!)
Overview: So if you haven’t been to Savannah, my friend, you are missing out on a special, special place. If you have been and didn’t go to the Olde Pink House, well you ought to be ashamed of yourself. I hope you at LEAST attempted to get a reservation at this...

being a judge is fun a job...
Sometimes. I was in court the other day and I was waiting for my case to be heard and had to sit through this disturbing case. And sometimes I feel bad for the judges because they have to make some pretty tough decisions, but this one was a little more black and white.
There was a 40-something-woman trying to get a restraining order on a 17 year old girl who happened to show up at her apartment...
